Free Museum Kids Day at Burke Museum

at The Burke Museum on the UW campus.

10 AM – 8 PM on the first
Thursday of the month, November 1st

 We will plan to get there by 10:15, walk through the museum, walk 5 minutes to the Henry Art Museum, browse through and then find a place to have lunch.  Bring a bag lunch or find a place nearby on University Ave.

Below are just some of the exhibits currently at the

 Burke Museum.

  • Brace yourselves, dino-lovers: Burke Museum paleontologists have discovered the first dinosaur fossil ever found in Washington state!
  • Immerse yourself in the lives of people from different cultures around the Pacific Rim. Pacific Voices is about cultural identity—about how we know who we are.
  • More of the "Tufts-Love" T. rex skull will be revealed every day.
  • From lethal lava to grinding glaciers to rampaging reptiles, marvel at the natural forces that shaped Washington's landscape and the amazing animals that once lived here.
  • See more than 100 objects—from glittering gems to colorful birds to remarkable works of art—that highlight the breadth of the collections held at the Burke.

There are several public pay-to-park lots within a few blocks of the Burke. City of Seattle street parking available near the Burke with parking limits between two and four hours. The closest street parking is found along 15th Ave. NE, 16th Ave. NE and 17th Ave. NE. Download a printable map (PDF).

Check Out Contemporary Art at the Henry Art Gallery

The Henry Art Gallery features contemporary art and ideas and is just a 5-minute walk from the Burke. Plus, if you’re visiting the Burke, you can pay just $1 more to see the Henry on the same day. Ask about this deal at Burke admissions. Note that the Henry is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Search for the Henry on the UW map.

In the University District
A wide range of dining options is available just a block away from the Burke on University Way (aka, “the Ave”). From cheap eats to white tablecloths, classic burgers to international favorites, you’re sure to find something that suits your palate.
