   Kid's Day

Kid's Day activities are held the first Tuesday of most months for elementary-aged kids. Some past year's activities include: a day at a park, a spelling bee, a Valentine's Day roller skating party, a trip to the Washington State Corn Maze, and much more. Information about upcoming events will be included in each month's newsletter.

Some activities may involve a fee. If space allows, non-members are allowed to participate for an additional fee.  Feel free to contact our Kid's Day Coordinator for more information.

A registration form is usually available at the parent meetings or click the button below to download.

   Teen Events

H.O.M.E. tries to offer one or two teen events each month for currently homeschooled teens (13 years old through grade 12). These activities range from game nights, bowling, and broom ball, to formal dances. In the summer we offer "Summer Nights Out" once or twice a month. A typical cost for activities is $10. Dances range from $20 to $35 for H.O.M.E. members and are exclusively for homeschooled Senior High students. We usually plan two or three dances per school year.

All events are no-host events, except dances. No-host event means that if parents choose to drop off their teen, the parent is saying that the teen is responsible for him/herself. Although adults will be present at all no-host events, these adults are not responsible for every teen present. Ultimately, each teen's parents are responsible for them, so if they drop off the teen, it is comparable to dropping them off at the mall.

Feel free to contact our Teen Events Coordinator for more information.

   Field Trips

Field trips are a wonderful way for kids and parents to get to know other families that are homeschooling. They are also wonderful learning opportunities. Some past field trips include Safeco Field, Uwajimaya, Pumpkin Patch and many more.

   SAT Testing Services

H.O.M.E. sponsors the Stanford Achievement Test in May for grades 2 through 12. This test fulfills the Washington State requirement for the yearly assessment. This is not to be confused with the college entrance exam - the SAT Reasoning Test (formerly known as the Scholastic Aptitude Test or the Scholastic Assessment Test).

   Soundbridge

Soundbridge Museum is 2,000 square feet in Benaroya Hall designed by the Seattle Symphony to enable people of all ages and skill levels to build relationships with music. Members receive unlimited visits, class discounts, and other benefits!

The people that work there have various skills and talents with music, so call a couple of weeks ahead and ask them if they can tailor a program to meet your needs. For example, one month they had a class about Rhythm geared towards 4-8 year olds. The next month they did Melody and then Harmony, and the kids loved it!

When you visit, tell them you are a HOME member and you get in free.

Hours of operation: Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am–4 pm.

Soundbridge Museum is located at the corner on Second Avenue and Union Street. For more information about Soundbridge, visit their web site at www.soundbridge.org, or call them at 206-336- 6600. Or ask a mom who’s been!
